Strong women mentorship can provide an advantage for any professional at any career level, but for female professionals, a mentor can make all the difference. A mentor’s advice can help in overcoming the various gender related challenges and can also ensure gender equality and empowerment. Mentors provide a mirror for women’s strength as mentoring her offers guidance towards creating the future she wants. In order to find a mentor for women empowerment you must ask the following questions to yourself:
- Why should I look up to this person?
You should first ask yourself if you admire this person for her or his achievements. Your mentor should be someone who shares their professional or personal outlook with you and perhaps has even accomplished the goals you hope to achieve.
- Can this person guide me towards my professional goals?
Mentorship does not mean someone telling you what moves to take; it is about someone encouraging you to find the answers yourself.
- Will I be able to work or talk with this person?
It is critical to know that you can work and communicate well with the person who’s going to help guide through your Entrepreneurship. The mentor must be supportive, communicative and must feel that your needs are important.
- Is your mentor Happy in his or her career?
If a seemingly successful person is working at a job he or she secretly hates, it will show that your person is probably not your ideal mentor.
No matter whom you pick, a good mentor is someone who always believes in you and has or makes time for you.
