Mentoring Her is an online social mentoring network that virtually connects women mentors and mentees where we can develop relationships and help one another grow in areas relating to education, career, entrepreneurship and empowerment. We relate via chat, voice or video calls within the platform. There is a forum to communicate with other mentees/mentors, a job board, training resources and so much more.

According to Merriam-Webster, a mentor is ‘a trusted counselor or guide’. A mentor is someone who has decided to take the time to connect with you to help you in one way or another.
Requirements to be a mentor:
– Identify as a woman
– Be 21 years or older (18 – 20 applicants will be examined on a case by case basis)
– Be willing to adhere to all Mentoring Her terms and conditions, including written policies and procedures
– Commit to a minimum of 30 minutes a week for 1 year virtually (chat, phone, video calls)
– Be ready with a listening ear, advice, ideas, experiences to impact the life of a mentee
– Hold an Associates’ degree or higher (or in active pursuit)
– Must come through a referral or be approved by an existing partner organization
– Agree to respond to periodic assessment surveys
– Must reflect values of the referring institution
– Be willing to have a background screen
Due to the nature of our community, our primary focus is to maintain a safe and nurturing environment for everyone. All mentors and mentees must complete background screen which will include a reference check from their referral organization. You will also be required to provide identifying information.
Mentor commitment:
– A minimum of 30 minutes a week for 1 year virtually (chat, phone, video calls), no face to face meetings are expected or encouraged
– Mentoring styles vary and so it is very important to find the style that works for you.
According to Merriam-Webster, a mentee is “a person who is advised, trained, or counseled by a mentor”.
Requirements to be a mentee:
– Identify as a woman
– Be 13 years or older
– Be willing to adhere to all Mentoring Her policies and procedures
– Commit to a minimum of 30 minutes a week for 1 year virtually (chat, phone, video calls)
– Be ready to listen, ask questions, share ideas and have a desire for growth
– Must come through a referral or be approved by an existing partner organization
– Agree to respond to periodic assessment surveys
– Be able to obtain parental/guardian permission and ongoing support for participation in the program if requested (Ages 13-18)
– Must reflect values of the referring institution
– Agree to attend mentee trainings as required
– Be willing to have a background screen
Once your profile is active, you will be able to click on “find mentor or mentee” button and you will see likely matches based on the data you entered in your profile? You can also search for a mentee or mentor by name or by a term such as “Google” and those that work or have worked with “Google” will come up.
Yes, it is completely free to join and participate on the Mentoring Her platform.
There is a mentoring contract that everyone signs for participating on Mentoring Her.
